Enhancing Your Workout With The Basics
Enhancing your workout with the basics
Let’s face it: you’ve only got so much money to spend on sports nutrition and bodybuilding supplements and we know you want to spend it wisely. The problem is there are so many different products it’s hard to know what to choose. That’s why it’s important to get educated on the basics.
Anyone exercising regularly should be taking protein throughout the day and post-workout to aid with muscle tissue repair and growth. Protein is not just for bodybuilders.
Look for a protein powder with high protein content (ideally 20g to 25g per serving) and branch chain amino acids (BCAAs) - the building blocks of protein. Amino acids have far reaching effects in the body from building and repairing tissues like your nails, hair and muscles to boosting energy. Depending on your end goal, be aware of fat, sugar and carbohydrate contents in protein.
A multi vitamin is also important and taken once a day it will give your body the vital nutrients it needs to perform at its maximum. In an ideal world, these nutrients should come from a well-balanced diet, but exercise and other factors can drain the body of much-needed nutrients.
To take your workouts to the next level, you may want to take a performance enhancing product, pre-workout, to assist with muscle endurance and energy. You will definitely notice the kick!
That all being said, whole foods are the foundation of sports nutrition and if you have a poor diet then you will be throwing your money away on supplements.
